Manly Birthday

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying your Saturday as much as I am. The weather is absolutely gorgeous here today! It's 71 degrees and sunny. It was the perfect morning for opening day of Little League.

Here is another video for you. I decided to go masculine on this. Masculine cards are always challenging for me...because I want to cutsie them up all the time. I think this one satisfied my need for embellishments without floating to the feminine side of the spectrum. It's always helpful to add some metal brads to a masculine card to spruce it up without making it to cutsie.

I hope you have a wonderful day. It's quite here right now and I think I will catch a little snooze. Enjoy your day!

Happy Everything Bird Card

Hello. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

For this week's project, I decided to try out the Extra Large Two Step Bird punch from the Occasions Mini catalog. I have had it for a little while, but due to my busy schedule with school, I've had little time to get into my craft room and experiment with things. I am looking forward to spring break, which is just around the corner for me. I hope I can spend some quality time with my craft room. I've really been missing it.

I used the Happy Everything and Woodgrain stamp sets. The Woodgrain stamp was perfect for this card. It's a great, versatile background stamp for your collection. I used Pretty In Pink, Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White card stocks.

Enjoy the little bit that's left of your weekend! I have midterms tomorrow, so I will be getting into bed early.

Friend and Flowers

I finally got this video to upload.  I had it ready the other day, but it kept failing when I tried to upload it.  It's so frustrating when that happens.

I did something really simple and a little different for this card.  I started with a 7 x 7 piece of Kraft card stock for my base.  That makes the finished card 3 1/2 x 7.  I also used two Stampin Up embosslits and a sizzlit to cut my shapes.  I really like this card and I think I may use it  for next month's stamp club.

I hope you are all adjusting well to the time change.  So far, so good here.

Have a wonderful day!

Beautiful Wings Easter Card

Hello everyone!  Well, we've survived a week with pneumonia, followed by a week of the stomach flu.  My kids have been sick non-stop for the past two weeks.  I am sick of having sick kids.  I think we are finally on the road to wellness.  I still have some lingering symptoms of my sinus infection, but other than that, we are good.

I finally got around to making another video.  I was lacking inspiration this morning...but I finally came up with this card.  I was trying to do something springy.  I usually prefer darker, richer colors to pastels, but I forced myself to use soft, cheery colors for this Easter card.  I used So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink and Pumpkin Pie for the butterflies.  I couldn't escape using Kraft card stock for the base of my card, partly because I had a precut and folded card just sitting on my craft table.  Overall, I think it turned out pretty good.

I used the Beautiful Wings embosslit to cut and emboss the little butterflies for this card.  I love these embosslits.  I can't believe I haven't purchased any before now.  You will be seeing me use a couple more of these in the near future.  I also used the Well Scripted stamp set and the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

I also have to mention that I finally purchased the Stampin Up clear blocks.  I love them!  They feel great in your hands.  I love that they feel like wood blocks.  There are lots of sizes available...but I think my favorite so far is the "D" block.  We'll see.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  Enjoy your day!

The Mysterious Whereabouts of Carissa

No, I didn't fall off the face of the Earth...rather, I have fallen into the abyss of never ending studying that nursing school demands.  I sincerely apologize that I have been unable to update my blog.  I hope that I will find some time this week to make a video...even if it's just a simple one.  On top of nursing school being crazy, we've had sick kids.  My little boy had pneumonia and my little girl was home today with some sort of bug.  I started antibiotics yesterday for a sinus infection.  We've just been one sick family.  Thankfully, my husband stepped up to play Mr. Mom while I went to school.  He even did laundry and is making dinner tonight too!  Wow.  I am so lucky.

I hope all of you are doing well.   There seems to be quite a few bugs going around our area.  I am really tired of everyone being sick.  It seems like everyone I know has had sick kids in the last two weeks.

I am officially done with my clinical rotation in OB and am moving into Pediatric nursing tomorrow.  I really enjoyed OB and am very sad to be leaving there.  There is always a little stress as we move from one area to another.  You just never know what to expect.  Sometimes you are pleasantly surprised...and sometimes you aren't.

Take care and enjoy your day!  Think of me while you craft!  I wish I were making a huge mess in my craft room right now, but unfortunately, the books call me.
