MPS Design Team Submission

Hi everyone!  I hope you are having a great weekend.  I just got back from visiting my mom up at Stanford.  She was very happy to have some company for the weekend.  And I was glad to bring a smile to her face.  She is such a trooper.  You can read about my mom's battle with lymphoma by clicking on the "Nancy's Care Page" link at the left side of my blog.

This project is my submission for the My Pink Stamper's design team call.  It included the challenge of using brown, green, turquoise and brown on your card.  At first, I was a little set back by this color combination.  But when I started playing with the papers...I was really wowed by the combination.

I knew I wanted to make a shaped card.  So I used the Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge to create the card base by welding two of the shapes together with my Gypsy.  The card base was cut at 5.5 inches.  The layers, using the same shape, were cut at 5 and 4.75 inches.

The hot air ballon is from the Everyday Pop Up Cards Cricut cartridge and is cut (with all the layers) at 3.25 inches.  The clouds are from Create a Critter and are cut at 1.5 inches and 1.25 inches.  I then stamped the clouds with Hero Arts Magical Background cling stamp.  All of that turquoise really needed some white to break it up....and the clouds were the perfect remedy for that.  I lined the clouds with a thin line of Star Dust Stickles to give them a little shimmer and stamped my greeting, which is from My Pink Stamper's Family and Friends stamp set, on one of the clouds in brown ink.  I took another look at the card and decided it needed a couple more touches of orange...so I added two hearts punched from some orange patterned paper...and added some Stickles to really make them sparkle.

I hope you have a wonderful day!  Thanks for stopping by!
