Belly Band Birthday Treats

If you're anything like me, you're always looking for a quick and easy treat for your children's classes when their birthdays roll around.  I don't usually like to send cupcakes {there's a good chance they're going to have to be carrying these goodies to school on their own, not to mention, I'm not much of a baker}.  I usually let my kids pick their favorite wrapped treat to take to school and then doll them up to make them special for their birthdays.  It allows the teacher to send the treats home if they don't have time during class...and makes transporting via bus a snap!

This year for my little girls 8th birthday, I made these fun little treats.  I had to make a lot of them {and was very short on time that week since my mom had surgery and work wasn't stopping either}, so I didn't want anything that would have tons of laying or embellishment required.  So when I found these birthday toppers in the silhouette online store, the creative wheels got to spinning...and I decided I wanted that shape to become a part of a belly band for the treat.  I allowed her to pick the colors {blue is her favorite and she was very specific about the shade of pink}, and I topped them off with a sticky backed rhinestone {because what girl doesn't love a diamond}.

I have a video below walking you through the creation of these fun birthday belly bands in Silhouette Studio.  It's a rather simple process and because you can customize the size, you can slap a belly band on anything your little ol' heart desires.

Have a fabulous day!

I hope you'll join me on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 for National Scrapbook Day!  I'll have a video, a challenge and a giveaway!
