Celebrate Holiday Card - Simple Tips For Adding Texture

Hi everyone!  Wow!  Is your life getting busier by the day?  Mine sure is.  It's been a bit since I stopped by.  But today I'm here with a new video tutorial for you featuring the fabulous Holiday and New Year Stamp Set from Studio Calico.  Don't let the name of this stamp set fool you.  This can be used year round!  But for this particular card...I used it for a Christmas card.

I started by embossing the large celebrate stamp on the bottom of red card stock.  I love the look of bright white embossing on colored card stock.  And for Christmas, what could be better than a bright white sentiment on some gorgeous red card stock?  I added even more embossing with the Happy Holidays stamp just below that, embossed in some Leaf Green embossing powder by Zing.

In order to add texture to the card, I used my Martha Stewart score board to create some scored lines on the front of my card.  This is a fast and easy way to add texture without adding bulk.  I added two scored lines above the sentiment area and one below.  This also blocks in the sentiment area and creates separation.

I thought that the card needed a bit more texture.  So I added a tone on tone stamped pattern to the top of the card.  The tone on tone effect was created very simply with some Versamark watermark ink.  I used a small dot stamp from the Wreath Stamp Set and staggered it to create a polka dot pattern.  This is another way to add texture without bulk...and make your card perfect for mailing.

This card uses very few consumables, which makes it a great option for mass producing.  You can create it over and over again.

I have included a video walking you through the entire creation of this card below.  I've also linked all the supplies used to create this card below.

Like I said before, this stamp set is not just for your holiday cards.  It can be used year round.  Here's a peek at a birthday card I created using this stamp set.  I did a little ombre stamping for the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed this project.  If you like the video tutorial, please be sure to subscribe and give it a thumbs up on YouTube.

Have a fabulous day!
