Celebrate Shaker Card - Brush Stroke Stamping - Pretty Pink Posh Birthday Celebration

Hi everyone!  I'm so excited to share this over the top sparkly project with you today in honor of Pretty Pink Posh's 2nd birthday celebration.  I just knew I had to make a shaker card for this birthday celebration.  This celebrate shaker card is like a party in a card.  This project is part of a three day celebration with prizes, a discount code, a new stamp set with minimum order and TONS of inspiration!  Be sure you start at the Pretty Pink Posh blog so you don't miss anything.

I used the Mama Elephant Brushstrokes stamp set to create a background for my shaker.  I wanted the strokes to cover most of the card front, but when I looked at the large stroke stamp, I found that it was way too long for my card front.  So after some experimentation, I figured out a way to add a brushstroke look to one edge of my stamp.  This allowed me to partially ink the stamp and still have a brushstroke look, instead of an abrupt end.  I'll walk you through this in the video tutorial below.

I started by figuring out how long I wanted my brushstroke to be and marked the stamp press that I was using wish some washi.  This washi served as my partial inking guide.  I then inked the stamp up to that point.  I used a barely damp paint brush to pull the ink out and give a brush stroke look to the edge of the stamp.  I repeated this in several colors, giving me a rainbow effect on the card front.  I made sure to flip the stamp as I moved from color to color so that the stamped pattern didn't look too uniform.

I used the Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Frame die to create the frame for my shaker card.  I wanted the frame to have dimension.  You can definitely change this up and have your shaker portion recessed, but I decided to have it pop of the card instead.  I used some Stick-It adhesive to adhere some craft foam to a piece of my favorite glitter card stock, as well as some Neenah solar white card stock.  I ran both of these "sandwiches" of adhesive and card stock through my die cut machine.  By adding the foam to the card stock first, the foam maintains its shape and doesn't get stretched out.  And it cuts beautifully.

I also added some Stick-It adhesive to the back of my black card stock before I die cut my sentiment.  This celebrate sentiment from the Essentials by Ellen line is one of my favorite sentiments ever.  I've been begging my friend Julie to create more sentiments like this.  I just love her handwriting.  And these intricate words are just so beautiful on a card.  The Stick-It adhesive is perfect for adding delicate die cuts like this to the card.

For the guts of my shaker card, I wanted plenty of sparkle!  I added an assortment of Pretty Pink Posh sequins.  I started with my new favorite, the iridescent Mini Star Confetti.  I also added lots of Sparkling Clear sequins in an assortment of sizes.  The clear sequins give plenty of sparkle without detracting from the colorful stamped background.  I finished off by adding more of the Mini Star Confetti in gold.  Love those mini stars!

I've created a video tutorial below which will walk you through the entire creation of this card.  Be sure to check it out.  And if you don't want to miss any card making videos, be sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel and follow me on Instagram.  I've also included links below to the supplies used.
