Simon Says Stamp Reason To Smile Release Blog Hop - Easter Greetings - Stamp Kissing

Hi everyone!  Thanks for stopping by!  Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp Reason To Smile product release blog hop!  Simon has just released some fun new products that you're going to love.  It includes a fun assortment of stamps, dies, embossing powder (Rose GOLD?!?) and even Simon felt!  Wowza!  You can check out the entire release by clicking HERE.  I've created a couple of cards for you, along with a video tutorial.  And there's even a giveaway too!

I have a fun project for you today featuring the new Melody's Easter stamp set and coordinating dies. And I'll be showing you how to do a little stamp kissing to add some fun texture to solid image stamps.  I've created a video tutorial walking you through the entire creation of this card.  Be sure to check it out below.

I love this little egg image from the Melody's Easter stamp set.  I thought it would be so much fun to stamp this image in lots of different colors.  I used a variety of fun spring ink colors, including Simon's Maliblue, Pale Blush Pink and Mint.  I also used the Hero Arts Butter Bar and Pale Tomato inks.  This makes for a fun and colorful spring palette.

I also thought it would be fun to add a little bit of texture to this otherwise solid image stamp.  I achieved this with a little bit of stamp kissing.  I first inked up my stamp using my ink pad.  I then kissed the image to a background stamp.  This pulls the ink off in the area where the solid stamp kisses the background stamp and adds pattern to the solid stamp.

I found that I had best results when adding a little bit of Versamark ink to the background stamp prior to kissing the inked image to it.  I also found that this technique is all about the pressure.  You truly want to kiss the solid image to the background stamp.  You'll lose definition if you apply to much pressure during your kiss.  Think a soft peck rather that a fast and furious makeout session. ;)  Once you've kissed your stamp to the background stamp, you can then stamp your image on to the paper.  Voila.  You've added fun pattern and texture to your egg!  Keep in mind, you won't get perfectly crisp clear pattern with this technique, but it's a fun way to add texture!

I stamped several of these eggs in various colors and patterns and then die cut them using the coordinating dies.  Die cutting them allowed me to adhere them to my card using varying depths.  Some have foam adhesive, some are adhered flat.

The greeting also comes from the Melody's Easter stamp set.  I white heat embossed the greeting on vellum.  I love that each of the greetings in this stamp set are separate, allowing you to combine them easily to suit your need.  And for the faint at heart who don't like to cut their stamps...you're all set.  No cutting necessary here!

I layered all of my elements up and added some patterned paper.  I pulled in a little bit of gold (of course) and added a bit of sparkle with some Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  Love love love the soft colors, sparkle and texture!

I also created this card using the new Spring Flowers stamp set, also a part of the Simon Says Stamp Reason To Smile release.  I'll be sharing a video tutorial on this very soon.  I'll show you how I created some awesome sparkle watercolor using the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens.

I love these beautiful and very whimsical flowers.  They're perfect for watercolor!
