Holiday Shaker Cards - Pretty Pink Posh October Release Blog Hop

Hey everyone!  I hope you're having a fabulous day.  I have some fun holiday shaker cards for you today.  I'll be using some new products from Pretty Pink Posh

These projects are a part of the Pretty Pink Posh October Release Blog Hop, a two day event full of inspiration and giveaways.  There's so many fabulous projects.  Make sure you start at the Pretty Pink Posh blog and visit each stop.  Leave a comment at each stop along the way to be entered to win one 4 $25 Pretty Pink Posh gift certificates.  There will be two winners each day.  Pretty Pink Posh is also offering a gift with $100 purchase a more.  It's a fabulous full size stamp set.

I decided to use the limited edition Snowflake sequin mix and Holiday Sparkle sequin mix to create some fun holiday cards.  I just love these snowflakes.  Get them while you can because these are going to be a hot commodity.

To start, I stamped several of the images from the Halloween Friends stamp set and Christmas Friends stamp set on to some watercolor card stock.  I used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors and a water brush to quickly watercolor these images.  I then used the coordinating dies to cut out my adorable little creatures and people.  I stamped extras for those times when I want to do something creative, but don't feel like making a complete card.  I'll have images on hand that I can color when I have the hankering to create but don't necessarily have the time to go the whole 9 yards.

For the first card, I kept it really simple.  I love the simple elegance of this card.  I combined a gold heat embossed sentiment from the new Christmas Friends stamp set with some snowflake sequins.  I wrestled with the layout, trying to decide if I wanted to include one of the adorable little people from the Christmas Friends stamp set.  In the end, I loved the simplicity of the gold sentiment with the snowflakes.  To add a pop of color, I mounted my shaker card front on to a teal colored card base.

I'll walk you through the creation of these cards in the video tutorial below.  Be sure to check that out!

I assembled the other cards in the same way that I did the first.  I simply changed the layout a bit.

I decided the "seasons greetings" sentiments would be amazing heat embossed on the window of my shaker card.  I used a special heat resistant acetate to emboss my sentiment on the window.

This Rich Pale Gold embossing powder from WOW is my new favorite.

I attached my little snowman to the card front using some foam adhesive.  I added some Ranger Black Tie Enamel Accents for some fun shine and dimension.  I also added a layer of the Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay sparkle pen to my snowman.  For a bit of snow beneath him, I used some Stardust Stickles.  I love all the different shiny elements on this card.

For the final card, I used the Holiday Sparkle Sequin Mix in my shaker window.  I love the bright fun colors of this mix.  When I colored my little guy and gal, I tried to use some coordinating colors.  This is a fun change up to the traditional red and green holiday scheme.  I love the combination of the green and pink and the snowflakes.

I stamped the "warm holiday greetings" sentiment directly on my card front and heat embossed it using....you guessed it...my new favorite embossing powder.  This makes for a little variation in the card without having to totally rethink the design.

I also created a card using the Halloween Friends stamp set.  Love this little bear dressed as a bee.  Keep your eyes peeled for a video tutorial featuring this card.

I used some Stardust Stickles on the bear's wings to add some sparkle...because what good are wings without a bit of sparkle?

Check out the video tutorial below...and be sure to hop to every stop along the hop so you won't miss a bit of the fun.  I've included the complete list of participants below.  But if you get lost, just head to Pretty Pink Posh and follow the yellow brick road from there. ;)

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you've enjoyed these projects.  Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!
