Hold On To Your Bobbles! - Essentials By Ellen Christmas In July Blog Hop

Hi everyone!  I'm so glad you're joining me today.  Happy July and Merry Christmas (?)!  The folks over at EllenHutson.com are celebrating Christmas in July with a special blog hop AND a sale you won't want to miss!  You can save 40% off of all the items in the Christmas In July category over at EllenHutson.com.  Click HERE to link directly to the sale category.  But hurry!  This discount is only good through Monday July 24, 2017.  The holiday products I'm using in today's project are included in that sale category!

For today's project, I'm using my favorite stamp and die set from the Essentials By Ellen Holiday 2016 release.  I love the retro vibe and bold sentiments in the Fat Pants stamp set.  There's a ton of versatility in this stamp set.  You can even create your own Santa or snowman.

I'll be using a color scheme that isn't traditionally a Christmas color scheme.  But since we're celebrating Christmas in the middle of July, I figured I'd go with a color scheme that's bright and summery.  I think this bold color combo pairs nicely with the retro vibe of these fancy ornaments.

Since this is a close to a one layer card as I will probably ever get, I kept this card clean and simple.  I added dimension to the ornaments by stacking up several die cuts on top of each other.  This gives these ornaments the feel of a chipboard embellishment.  To create a variance in the dimension, I stacked one of the ornaments with a total of 4 die cuts and one with a total of 6 die cuts.

I rarely stamp inside of my card, but I thought this was the perfect card to add an inside sentiment too.  I stamped It's Christmas inside of my card.  We all know we lose our bobbles at Christmas time...or am I the only one?

I've linked to the supplies I've used in this project below.  I've also included a video tutorial walking you through the entire creation of this card.  You'll find the stamps and dies I've used to create this card in the Christmas In July sale category over at EllenHutson, so be sure you don't miss your chance to save 40% on these stamps and dies.  Be sure to check it out.  I'd love if you would subscribe while you're there too!

Last year, I created another card with this stamp set.  You can check that out by clicking HERE.

I finished the card off with just a few sparkly elements.  I always think the finishing touches on a clean and simple card are key.  I used some clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh and some Nuvo Glitter drops to keep the sparkle on the retro vibe/clean and simple side of things.  I also used some Wink Of Stella over my ornaments to add a some serious shimmer to those colorful ornaments.  Love me some shimmer.

So there you have it.  Christmas In July with a fun and funky color combo perfect for some summer cards...or for a twist on the traditional Christmas color scheme.  I hope you enjoyed this project.  Don't forget to hop along to the next stop on the hop.  For more information, be sure to visit The CLASSroom blog!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you've enjoyed this project.  Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!

7 Ways To Step Up Colored Images - Pretty Pink Posh July Product Release Blog Hop

Hi everyone!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I'm here with a few projects featuring the new Pretty Pink Posh July products.  There are some adorable stamps and dies in this release.

This post is a part of the Pretty Pink Posh July Release Blog Hop.  Be sure you read to the end of this post to find information on the hop and giveaways!

When I saw the Summer Friends stamp set, I just knew I had to use it in my projects.  But I love how all of these products coordinate and pair really well together.  The Fly A Kit stamp and die set are the perfect compliment to the Summer Friends set.  There are so many possibilities for combining these two sets.  There are some other great sets in the release as well.  Be sure to check them out in the Pretty Pink Posh shop by clicking HERE.

Since the images in this release are pretty heavy on the coloring, I thought I would share 7 ways to step up colored images.  All of these images were colored using Copic markers.  I love to color images and then add little details to make them feel really special.  So let's get to it....

7 Ways To Step Up Colored Images

  1. Foam adhesive - foam adhesive is a quick and easy way to add dimension to colored images.  Use various heights when adhering your images and creating your scene to add interest and depth.
  2. Action Wobbles - I love these things!  They add dimension and a fun interactive element to your card in one easy step.  I added a Mini Action Wobble to the back of my sun to make it shimmy and shake.
  3. White paint pen/gel pen details - Some quick polka dots, stripes or stitching adding to your images with a white paint or gel pen is a quick way to add a bit of pattern to your colored images.  P.S.  It's also great for correcting little mistakes. ;)
  4. Glitter glues and drops - Add glitter glues or drops like Stickles or Nuvo Glitter Drops to quickly add a bit of sparkle.  I've added a bit of sparkle to my sand, sun and water for some fun sparkle that's quick and mess free.
  5. Glossy Accents - Glossy Accents is a great way to add shine and dimension to colored images.  I've added Glossy Accents to the lenses of my sunglasses and to the coffee cup lid to add shine and dimension.  It's quick and easy.  I like to use a precision tip to get in to small spaces on my colored images.  Once you add your Glossy Accents make sure you allow plenty of time for it to dry.
  6. Epoxy or Enamel dots - Want shine and dimension without the dry time?  I like to use Epoxy dots and skip the dry time.  These 1 inch dots are the perfect size for the sun.
  7. Shimmer pens - Shimmer pens like the Wink of Stella or Spectrum Noir Clear Glitter overlay are a great way to add subtle shimmer to areas on your card.  I used my Wink of Stella to trace around my embossed clouds to make them sparkle when they catch the light.

I'll walk you through these cards in the video tutorial below.  Be sure to check it out!
