Sparkly Distress Ink Watercolor - Featuring New Essentials By Ellen Mermaids Tail

Hi everyone!  I'm so excited.  Today is the big day!  I can finally show you my new favorite stamp set, the Essentials By Ellen Mermaids Tail stamp and die set!  This set is only available at Ellen Hutson ...so be sure to head over there to get yours and check out the entire July release.

I've actually known about this stamp set for quite some time.  In fact, it was a special request.  I asked my friend Julie Ebersole to design me a big 'ol mermaid tail die cut and coordinating stamp set.  She delivered and I'm the happiest a crafty friend could ever be!

This tail is the perfect size for a focal point on an A2 sized card.  It's absolutely perfect!

There are a lot of mermaid sets out there, but none are quite like this one.  This has a completely different vibe.  And I love that I can do so many different things with this by combining the stamp and die or using them separately.

The sentiments in this set are awesome.  I love that there are a variety of snarky sentiments, like "I want to be where the people aren't" and "mermaids don't have thigh gaps.  And there are also some really great encouraging sentiments like "seas the day", "make waves" and "just keep swimming".  The variety of sentiments makes this stamp set so versatile!  I have to admit, my favorite one is "I want to be where the people aren't" because sometimes I just feel like that.  :)

I used these stamps and dies today to create several cards.  I am using the emboss resist technique along with some Distress Ink watercoloring to create a variety of colorful mermaid tails.

Once I watercolored the mermaid tails, I die cut them with the coordinating die set and gave them a healthy dousing of Therm O Web's Iridescent Glitter Dust to make them all kinds of shiny and sparkly.

I'll walk you through the creation of these cards in the video tutorial below.  I'll give you some tips and tricks there too.  So be sure to check it out.

Here's a look at all the cards I created.  I've listed the Distress Ink colors I used to watercolor the mermaid tail below each photo.  These photos will also give you a good look at some of my favorite sentiments in the stamp set.

It's hard to capture the shine and sparkle I was able to get with that healthy dousing of Glitter Dust.  But here's a peak.  It left me with a clear shine similar to a clear embossing powder mixed with some iridescent glitter.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Don't forget, this is only one of the new sets from EllenHutson.com.  You can check out all the new stamps and dies released today by clicking HERE.  *Hint hint...I'll be back with another card featuring one of these on Friday.**
