Treat Yo Self Gift Card Holder - Essentials By Ellen April Pin-Sights Challenge

Hi everyone!  Today I'm participating in the Essentials By Ellen Pin-Sights Challenge.  And I'll tell you how you can play along too for your chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store

We're using this Pinterest image to inspire our works today.  I just love the fun and funky, yet feminine vibe that this picture portrays.  There's lots to play with here...a cool color combo, geometric patters, frilly florals and awesome copper accents.  You could use this photo to inspire a layout too!  In fact, I've included a sketch of a card inspired by the three copper pendants hanging over the bar.

For my project, I've used the Essentials By Ellen Bokeh Dots Stamp Set and the Treat Yo Self Die.  I like how the Bokeh Dots mimics the random circular pattern on the bedding.  These stamps make a perfect backdrop for the Treat Yo Self die.  It's the equivalent of creating layers with patterned papers or die cut shapes.

I also used Copic markers in a couple of ways on this card.  I colored some vellum to make my pretty pink feather (which mimics the soft layers of the flowers in our inspiration photo).  I also added some orange Copic marker to my favorite gold glitter card stock in order to make it appear more copper like...just like the pendants in our inspiration piece.

I thought it would be fitting to add a gift card to this project...since it's all about treating yo' self.  So I just cut around the circles I stamped to create a hidden slot for my favorite kind of gift card...a Starbucks gift card!  I'll show you exactly how this is done in the video below.

I've included a video tutorial below, walking you through the entire creation of this card.  I've also included links to all the products used in this project below.  Just click the product to link directly to the purchase page.

Don't forget you can create your own project and enter to win the $50 gift certificate to EllenHutson.com.  Make a project {inspired by our image above} using any Essentials By Ellen product and link it up on The CLASSroom blog.  One random winner will be chosen!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you've been inspired by this challenge to create your own project.  Have a fabulous day!
